Desalination for a Circular Water Economy - Livestream
How does the role of desalination apply in resilient water resource portfolios? Professor Mauter will describe technological innovations required to support a circular water economy in which non-traditional water is treated to fit-for-purpose standards and reused locally. With Professor Mauter, alumni will:
1. Critically review the efficacy of state-of-the-art desalination technologies in removing critical contaminants from non-traditional source waters.
2. Assess the thermodynamic, operational, financial, environmental and policy barriers to implementing desalination-based treatment trains.
3. Identify opportunities for next-generation desalination alternatives to lower the cost and energy intensity of water reuse.
Speaker: Meagan Mauter, Woods Institute for the Environment
