Wehner is leading the development of a new approach to climate modeling called "end-to-end attribution." This approach is helping scientists better understand how much worse disastrous weather is becoming, and enabling them to quantify the differences in terms of damage and destruction. He and his colleagues have proposed adding a Category 6 to the Saffir-Simpson Wind Scale, which would encompass storms with wind speeds greater than 192 mph.
