Art/Science Workshop: Sweet Heat
Adding heat to materials causes them to melt, boil and even explode. Thermal metaphors are also applied to people-from being "hot-blooded" to having a "meltdown." After considering the scientific impacts of heat, explore what it means to you. Learn how to make a glass-like material by bringing sugar to a boil. Using this amber liquid, you'll create a sweet-smelling work of ephemeral art.
Art/Science Connections Workshops use science to inspire artistic creativity. Workshops are appropriate for adults with all levels of art experience. Choose between Sunday and Thursday workshops, 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Prices are $25 members, $35 Nonmembers. Register at http://www.exploratorium.edu/membership/programs/#adult
