Insulation - A Key Strategy for Achieving Net-Zero Energy and Carbon Neutral Performance, but at What Cost?
"The more insulation the better", is the mantra of the energy efficiency faction of the sustainability and Green Building community. From the basic Title 24 requirements to the demanding Passive House movement, there are many types of materials and methods, with a variety of outcomes and consequences. We will attempt to cover a number of these issues in this extremely important subject.
Specifically, Pete will provide installation techniques for a variety of insulations: fiberglass batts, cellulose, spray foams, etc. And Tom will present information regarding the toxins in the various forms of insulation; formaldehyde, fire retardants, off-gassing etc.
