Make Your Mark

Use science to inspire art.

The world around us provides a myriad of tools to make artistic marks on paper and canvas- from sticks to water, leaves to air. First we'll consider Exploratorium exhibits such as Aeolian Landscape and Icy Bodies as works of art. Then we'll try some less traditional mark-making techniques like floating ink. The morning workshop will give families a chance to go on an art scavenger hunt; the afternoon adult workshop will include a discussion about contemporary artists using unusual techniques. You may never need a paintbrush again.

9:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m.: Families with children 8+.
Limited to 2 children per adult. Prices are per family of up to 4 people.
Members: $55/family; Nonmembers: $80/family.

1:30 p.m.–4:30 p.m.: Adults 18+.
Members: $25; Nonmembers: $35.
