Marine Mammals of the Marin headlands

Come learn about marine mammals, tour the Marine Mammal Center's state of the art hospital and observe harbor seals in the wild. We start the morning in the discovery classroom, learning about marine mammals of California and examining a variety of specimens. Next you will be treated to a guided tour to see our patients (mainly seals and sea lions) and learn how we care for them. After a picnic lunch overlooking Rodeo Beach (lunch not provided), we will drive to Point Bonita for a short hike to the harbor seal overlook. While looking for harbor seals hauled out on the rock below the cliff, we will learn about survey techniques while observing seal behaviors.
