Witness the Last Space Shuttle Launch - SOLD OUT
Space shuttle Atlantis is scheduled to launch at approximately 8:26 a.m. PDT on July 8, 2011. Members of the public are invited to the NASA Exploration Center to view the live, televised launch and to commemorate the end of the space shuttle program. Admission is free, but registration is required to obtain a ticket into the event. The pre-launch program will begin at 7:30 a.m.
The STS-135 mission will carry the Raffaello multipurpose logistics module to deliver supplies, logistics and spare parts to the International Space Station.
The final, historic lift-off of Atlantis will be televised live in the immersive theater of the NASA Exploration Center. There will be special programming in the Exploration Center that begins at 7:30 a.m. Presenters will share information about Ames' role in the space shuttle program and will discuss one of the life sciences experiments that will be conducted.
Admission into the event is free, but seating is limited. Visitors must register and get a ticket for each member of their party to enter the event.
Following the launch there will be an opportunity for children to make their own space shuttle model to take home. Tickets are not required to participate in the "Make and Take" event, but guests may need to wait until there is availability in the Exploration Center.
