Clipperton Atoll and the Mozambique Channel: Exploration in Search of the Last Pristine Coral Reefs.

Clipperton Atoll off Mexico's west coast and the Scattered Islands of the Mozambique Channel are remote islands owned by France.  Performing research on the population genetics of fishes, UCSC professor Giacomo Bernardi, and professor Nicole Crane have discovered some of the last pristine coral reef ecosystems in the world.  These remote island ecosystems remain vulnerable to human impact.
