Birding for Beginners

(Santa Rosa, California) – Experience the rich diversity of Pepperwood's bird life with a class led by Moe Flannery and Giel Witt on Saturday, October 8, 2011 from 8:00 am-2:00 pm at Pepperwood Preserve. Students will enjoy a presentation on the basics of bird identification and use of binoculars followed by carpool drives to birding hotspots and some hiking off-trail. The class is $10.00 and students can register online at http://www.pepperwoodpreserve.org.

Presenter Moe Flannery is collections manager for the department of Ornithology and Mammalogy at the California Academy of Sciences. She has been teaching birding classes at Pepperwood for many years. Presenter Giel Witt is a veteran Pepperwood steward since 2007 and is a leader in avian breeding population monitoring at Pepperwood.
