The California HealthCare Foundation's Focus on Innovation and Technology

Margaret Laws

The California HealthCare Foundation works as a catalyst to fulfill the promise of better health care for all Californians. CHCF supports ideas and innovations that improve quality, increase efficiency, and lower the costs of care. CHCF is a philanthropy based in Oakland California, with a history of funding and supporting projects leveraging technology to accomplish its goals around 1) improving clinical outcomes and quality of life for Californians with chronic disease, 2) promoting greater transparency and accountability in California's health care system, 3) supporting implementation of health reform and advancing effectiveness of California's public coverage programs, and 4) reducing barriers to efficient, affordable health care for the underserved.

CHCF recently launched its Health Innovation Fund enabling investments in health care services, devices and technologies to deliver low cost innovation to consumers whose needs are not currently well met.

The presentation will highlight the work of CHCF, how it is using an investment fund to support innovations to lower the cost of care and improve access to care, and highlight examples of how technology has been used to make an impact for Californians.
