Sharktoberfest
Join us for this free celebration of our wonderful apex predator - the white shark, co-hosted by NOAA's Gulf of the Farallones National Marine Sanctuary and Sea Stewards, dedicated to shark conservation. Celebrate the annual return of white sharks to the Gulf of the Farallones, with a day of music, "sharkey" films, and fun activities. Free activities include: Face painting; Shark hats, shark crafts; Family-friendly shark films at the Pier Classroom - hosted by Sea Stewards; Paint a canvas shark "mural" - great for kids and grownups; See real white shark jaws, and the sanctuary's awesome Shark Van; Swing and sway to the strains of the Ukulele Band. Special program: "Sanctuary Shark-itecture 101"! Learn how sharks are "built" - their basic shark-itechture -- by helping assemble a 13-foot white shark, from its outside streamlined design, to its internal anatomy. Farallones sanctuary's Shark-itechture 101 programs start at 10am and 1pm. First, enjoy a mouth-watering shark video of our own Farallones White Sharks, then get to work and put one together! Cost: $10 per person - please email to register.
