Thanksgiving Camp: Green Power, The Science of Renewable Energy
At our Thanksgiving Camp "Green Power", we will explore what energy is and the various forms it comes in. We will learn about the difference between renewable and nonrenewable energy and why that is of concern in our world today. While making devices powered by the sun (with solar cells) and powered by wind and water, we will examine renewable energy in greater depth. In addition to building fun gadgets every day, we'll do creative art projects, play outdoors and watch science movies. Each child will make and take home: a Solar Cell Robot (Its head spins around!), a Light-Up Electro-Generator, a Motorized Solar Space Alien, a Wind-Powered Pulley, a Store-It-Up Solar Capacitor Spinner, and a Water-Powered Turbine. Taught by award winning science teacher, Sarah Shaffer. Ages 5-12.
