Extreme making, building, and designing: a future for schools?

Professor Blikstein will discuss the current shortcomings of most of the current reform efforts in our schools, including online learning, videos, virtual labs, and games, and present a new experience that we are taking to K12 schools – the FabLab@School Project – which is taking 3D printers, laser cutters, and high end equipment to schools as a way to boost interest and achievement in science and math. He will also talk about his work on learning analytics, which is using machine learning techniques to change the way we do assessment in education.
