Vast and Undetectable Discovery Day
An afternoon of science, art and activities. Free and open to visitors of all ages.
The SFAC Gallery in partnership with Science@Cal is thrilled to host an afternoon of scientific discovery and activities in conjunction with the current exhibition, Vast and Undetectable.
Professor Pat Zambryski, Department of Plant & Microbial Biology at UC Berkeley; Dr. Steve Croft, astronomer at UC Berkeley and Dr. Nader Mirabolfathi, research physicist at UC Berkeley will be on hand to make short presentations about the scientific work they do and how it converges with the work in the exhibition.
After the presentations, many of the artists from Vast and Undetectable as well as our esteemed guest scientists will be open to questions and conversations about science and art. This casual and open-ended event will allow for all visitors to establish their own point of entry into the exhibition and the scientific concepts driving the work.
There will also be activity stations set up for children of all ages to create their own works of art based on scientific discoveries. Learn to make mandalas, explore the world through microscopes, draw your own version of galaxies the Hubble Telescope has yet to discover and much more!
Join us for this open house style of presentation and activities. The SFAC Gallery will provide snacks and drinks. This event is free and open the public.
Presentations will begin at 1:30 pm, but feel free to come by anytime to share in the activities and talk to the scientists and artists from the exhibition.
