Conservation and Restoration of the Endangered Coho Salmon
The Endangered Coho Salmon of Marin County's Lagunitas Creek are imperiled by poor land use practices and habitat degradation. Conservation and restoration of this incredible species requires a diverse strategy of grassroots activism and defensible science. Come hear how Marin County's Salmon Protection and Watershed Network (SPAWN) is working to restore Lagunitas Creek's population of Coho Salmon and how you can get involved in conservation of salmon right here in the Bay Area. Our speaker is Jonathan Appelbaum, Restoration Scientist, Salmon Protection and Watershed Network. Mr. Appelbaum has over ten years of experience in the fields of restoration ecology and habitat conservation, including three years of direct experience with salmonid restoration in California. Mr. Appelbaum holds a Masters of Environmental Science and Management Degree with emphases in Coastal and Marine Resources Management and Conservation Planning from the Donald Bren School of Environmental Science and Management at the University of California, Santa Barbara
