An evening on BioArt with Oron Catts of Symbiotica who will be passing by San Francisco. It should be an interesting event.

Oron Catts, Director of SymbioticA at the University of Western Australia, a center of excellence in Biological Arts, will be passing by San Francisco, and we invited him to give a presentation of Symbiotica, an artistic laboratory dedicated to the research, learning and critique of life sciences.

Oron's presentation will be followed by a panel on BioArt with Chemistry professor and art specialist Tami Spector (USF), Art historian and artist Meredith Trumble (San Francisco Art Institute), Cultural historian Piero Scaruffi (www.scaruffi.com), Bioartist Phil Ross, Plant scientist Anna Davidson (UC Davis).

SymbioticA was the first research laboratory of its kind, enabling artists to engage in "wet biology", with access to scientific laboratories and staff in a university biological science department.
