Space Shuttle Endeavour Flyover

Endeavor

Space shuttle Endeavour is scheduled to visit northern California with a low-level flyover of NASA Ames Research Center before flying to Los Angeles to be permanently installed at the California Science Center. The approximate time for the flyover is between 9:00 and 9:30 a.m.
To commemorate this event celebrating NASA Ames' contributions to the Space Shuttle Program, the center will be holding a public event at the Moffett Federal Airfield, starting at 6:00 a.m. The schedule of events is: - 6 a.m.: Doors open; food trucks available - 7 a.m. – 10 a.m.: Visit booths about Ames contributions to the Space Shuttle Program - 8:30 a.m.: Welcome by Ames Center Director S. Pete Pete Worden and Special Guest Speaker - 9 a.m.: Countdown to flyover.

UPDATE: This event has been postponed from Thursday, September 20th, to Friday, September 21st. The schedule will remain the same and all car passes already issued will be valid.

PLEASE NOTE: Due to weather conditions and/or operational constraints, the flyover could be delayed or canceled.

Attendees are encouraged to use public transportation. If you plan to drive, you must register for a parking pass.

Please remember: - This is an outdoor event.. Please be sure to wear proper clothing/footwear and anticipate weather changes - The Boeing 747 will be flying at 1,500 feet above the viewing area; hearing protection is recommended
- As this is an open public event, please plan for traffic delays - Entry at the main gate for NASA Ames and the Shuttle Flyover Event require government-issued picture identification (e.g. drivers license for vehicle driver) along with a printed ticket for the event [vehicle pass]. Visitors under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult with a government- issued picture identification - Unauthorized entry upon any NASA real property of installation is prohibited. (14 CFR 1204.1004) - Your entry into, continued presence on, or exit from, this installation is contingent upon your consent to inspection of person and property. (14 CFR 1204.1003) - Unauthorized introduction of weapons or dangerous materials is prohibited - Unless specifically authorized by NASA, you may not carry, transport, introduce, store, or use firearms or other dangerous weapons, explosives or other incendiary devices or other dangerous instruments or material likely to produce substantial injury or damage to persons or property. (14 CFR 1204.1003) - Possession of firearms or dangerous weapons is strictly prohibited - No alcohol permitted - Smoking is allowed in designated areas only; there is absolutely no smoking allowed on the airfield - Animals, other than certified service animals, are prohibited from the event.

Editor's Note:  Endeavor will be flying over other portions of the Bay Area, including around the Golden Gate Bridge and down the bay.
