Treasure Island Nightlife

This week, NightLife rocks the beat with a celebration of gems and minerals, and an official Treasure Island Music Festival pre-party.

Get your gem on with the experts at the Gemological Institute of America, and see select specimens from the Academy's collection on a rare trip into the gem and mineral vault. Jean DeMouthe, the Academy's geology collection manager, will give a talk on the use of natural materials as tools, weapons, and of course, decorative objects.

In the planetarium, discover the history of unheard music in the night skies at 6:30, followed by two showings of Earthquake, a show which travels through space and time to examine our planet's history on a geologic timescale
