Exploring the Cordell Bank National Marine Sanctuary

Come learn about the hidden life of the Cordell Bank National Marine Sanctuary.

Cordell Bank is a thriving metropolis of ocean life above and below the water located off the shores of Marin and southern Sonoma counties.

Get to know this rarely seen “hotspot” where highly migratory seabirds come from as far away as Chile, New Zealand, Arctic, and Antarctic regions to feed in the food-rich waters.

Marine mammals such as blue whales and humpback whales travel from Costa Rica and Mexico to feed here. The seafloor environment of the Bank and the deep sea Bodega Canyon are home to a wide assortment of invertebrate and fish species which are studied and monitored by scientists with the national marine sanctuary.

Find out how our national marine sanctuaries are working with communities to best protect these national treasures through this multi-media presentation.

Presenter Jennifer Stock is an environmental educator who has been with Cordell Bank NMS since 2000. Prior to that, she was an outdoor educator with Yosemite National Institute-Headlands Institute, Guided Discoveries - Catalina Island Marine Institute, and the National Park Service as a seasonal interpreter.
