Climate Science for 200,000 humans -- hands-on!
The Mobile Climate Science Labs will be presenting hands-on demonstrations at the annual Solano Avenue Stroll, with 200,000 plus attending. Climate science is a serious matter, absolutely; but it is also of field of discovery that families love to personally take part in. Together, we'll be exploring the invisible world where global warming takes place. Different bands of infrared light interact with matter in incredible ways. The relation of heat and light, and the filtering effect of greenhouse gases on energy flow, make for very exciting hands-on lab experiments. Age 4-104; fun for all education levels -- preschool to PhD.
This event is leading into the Global Climate Action Summit: an international gathering, centered at Moscone Convention Center, with events all over the Bay Area in the week to follow.
Colleagues with other hands-on science programs are encouraged to check with us and consider taking part in this wonderful annual massive public festival. A hub has formed at the Solano Avenue Stroll, centered on the block between Cornell and Stannage, for family oriented hands-on science education. It is a magnificent place to promote the Bay Area Science Festival and the bayareascience.org calendar.
Video representations of the hands-on lab stations to be featured on Sept. 9th at the street festival are on the YouTube channel -- Climate Science Demonstrations.  A project of the volunteers of ClimateChangeEducation.org.
